Fight, Flight, or Freeze?
The R.A.C.E.
I am close to finishing my third book and as I write today, I want to share some insights into what you will read once the book is released. For starters, here is the cover…When you see the cover, what do you see? Please leave me some comments!!
The R.A.C.E. and, as you can see, four R words as a subtitle, which are: Rescue, Redeem, Restore, and Restart. These words define much of what the character goes through and what others witness as well.
Over the next few weeks, I will share excerpts from the book with you, inviting your comments as we prepare to release it early next year.
So I titled today’s Time With the Father, Fight, Flight, or Freeze. I am the Freeze – fear caused me to freeze! Which are you? In other words, when fear presents itself, how do you react?
The main character is Maverick, and she starts off as a fighter but ends up a freezer. Maverick, that’s not her real name, but a name given to her because her actions were like a wild horse, wanting her own way, doing it her own way, until she could not find her way.
I will read part of Chapter 1 without including it in the blog for copyright purposes. Now, here are some questions for you to consider, both for the character and for yourself.
1. What caused her to need rescuing? Did she need rescuing? If so, what did she need rescuing from?
2. What did God show her in the midst of it? What did she need to see? Was there more than one way to do things or was there only one way?
3. Do we know who and how she was rescued? Who was in control of her life, including her actions and thoughts?
I hope you will stay with me for the next few weeks as we explore her journey, meet others on her path, and find out what obstacles she faces and if she overcomes them.
Until next time, remember, the heart of the matter is the matter of the heart.
